It’s Melon season! The spring weather is upon us, and for Divine Flavor, this means our farms in northern Mexico are starting the melon harvest which includes regular seedless watermelon, mini seedless watermelon, cantaloupes, and honey dew. With every fruit and veggie produced at our Divine Flavor farms, flavor is our specialty and each of our melons burst with rich, mouthwatering, fruity flavor. Melons are the perfect fruit for the late spring/early summer. Enjoy them for a refreshing outdoor treat, sporting events, or even a late-night treat. HEALTH BENEFITS
All melons have a variety of health benefits whether it relates to hydration and the high water content they have, or the vitamins and minerals contained in the fruit. Watermelons, cantaloupe, and honey dew each contain a good amount of vitamin C which help support a strong immune system. Watermelons are a type of fruit which has high content level of lycopene. Lycopene has many health benefits such as supporting good oral and bone health, but also, there have been studies that show a connection between lycopene intake and cancer prevention. Cantaloupe contains a compound called beta carotene which the body uses and converts into vitamin A. Cantaloupe also has good levels of fiber which help support digestive health. Not to mention this melon has over 100% of the DV of vitamin C per serving. Lastly, honey dew contains a variety of health benefits due to the high levels of nutrients it has including vitamin C, fiber, potassium and thiamine. Regardless of which melon you prefer, they are all delicious and nutritious fruits.
